Biographical note: Michael Meyen ist Professor für Kommunikationswissenschaft an der Universität München.
Abstract:
Deutschland, einig Vaterland? Das kommunikative Gedächtnis der Deutschen ist gestört: Sie wollen sich nicht mehr über die DDR unterhalten. Michael Meyen zeigt auf, dass die Leitmedien seit 1990 fast ausschließlich von der Diktatur erzählen und uns so einen Anker für die kollektive Identität nehmen. Während die Westdeutschen zu wissen glauben, wie es »drüben« gewesen ist, vermeidet es der Ostdeutsche überwiegend, als DDR-Bürger enttarnt zu werden. Die Folgen: Die Muster »Arrangement« und »Fortschritt« verschwinden aus dem kollektiven Gedächtnis - und die Jugend hat ein Zerrbild vom Leben in der DDR.
