Abstract:
Abstract:
In the period between 1997 and 2007, nearly 1,5 million people from South America entered Spain in search for work. This research analyses the main association of those labour migrants coming from the Andean countries: Football Leagues. Theoretically, the study relies on practice theory, especially habitus (Pierre Bourdieu, Loïc Wacquant), and on other authors who deal with everyday life and bodily and spatial practices (i.a. Marcel Merleau-Ponty, Michel de Certeau, Arjun Appadurai, Erving Goffman). The methodology is ethnographic fieldwork, realised among Bolivian migrants and womens’ teams within the South American Leagues in Seville. The presentation seeks to demonstrate how the social, cultural and individual interweave. For this reason, the perspective constantly changes: The analysis starts with networks, social capital, cooperation and conflict within the leagues, continues with Bolivian migrants, the contestation of regional identities and celebration of football matches within a festive frame, to finally deal with women from Cochabamba, their life histories and migration experiences.
