Abstract: This qualitative study explores the experience the Mnjikaning (Rama) First Nation, approximately one year after it opened the largest Native casino in Canada. The report focuses on how the casino affected community life and governance. Negative impacts such as increased traffic, strangers in the community, and a greater incidence of gambling problems among commuity members are pointed out as offsetting the positive impacts of the casino.
