Abstract: Coronavirus News, Markets and AI explores the analysis of unstructured data from coronavirus-related news and the underlying sentiment during its real-time impact on the world and on global financial markets, in particular. In an age where information - both real and fake - travels in the blink of an eye and significantly alters market sentiment daily, this book is a blow by blow account of economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The volume: Details how AI driven machines capture, analyse and score relevant on-ground news sentiment to analyse the dynamics of market sentiment, how markets react to good or bad news across ‘short term’ and ‘long term’; Investigates what have been the most prevalent news sentiment during the pandemic, and its linkages to crude oil prices, high profile cases, impact of local news, and even the impact of Trump’s policies; Discusses the impact on what people think and discuss, how the COVID-19 crisis differs from the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, the unprecedented disruptions in supply chains and our daily lives; Showcases how easy accessibility to big data methods, cloud computing, and computational methods and the universal applicability of these tool to any topic can help analyse extract the related news sentiment in allied fields. Accessible, nuanced and insightful, this book will be invaluable for business professionals, bankers, media professionals, traders, investors, and investment consultants. It will also be of great interest to scholars and researchers of economics, commerce, science and technology studies, computer science, media and culture studies, public policy and digital humanities.

Abstract: Big Data is everywhere. It shapes our lives in more ways than we know and understand. This comprehensive introduction unravels the complex terabytes that will continue to shape our lives in ways imagined and unimagined. Drawing on case studies like Amazon, Facebook, the FIFA World Cup and the Aadhaar scheme, this book looks at how Big Data is changing the way we behave, consume and respond to situations in the digital age. It looks at how Big Data has the potential to transform disaster management and healthcare, as well as prove to be authoritarian and exploitative in the wrong hands. The latest offering from the authors of Artificial Intelligence: Evolution, Ethics and Public Policy, this accessibly written volume is essential for the researcher in science and technology studies, media and culture studies, public policy and digital humanities, as well as being a beacon for the general reader to make sense of the digital age

Abstract: The effort of the Editors has received global attention. Indebtedness is due to Saha and Asif and coworkers from Canada, Joseph and Mahapatra and coworkers from Poland and India, Ramirez-Montoya and coworkers from Spain and Mexico, Mota-Panizio and coworkers from Portugal and Brazil, Izquierdo and Lopez-Coca and coworkers from Spain, Vinitnantharat and coworkers from Thailand and the UK, Roy and Fini and coworkers from India and the USA, Lawson and Luyima and coworkers from Ghana and South Korea, Fouad El Mansouri and coworkers from Morocco and Spain, and Man Zhang and Yaning Zhang and coworkers from China for the 10 scholarly research papers dealing with the synthesis, characterization, properties, and applications of new carbon materials. The applications are mainly centered around environmental remediation owing to the intensity of the problem and comprise of water decontamination and the removal of heavy metals and organic compounds like tannic acid from contaminated sources. The use of biochar in agriculture for preventing nitrogen leaching for soil has also been included. Unconventional carbon-related materials like rice husk ash and carbon steel slag were also used for exotic applications
