Abstract: Arbeitsprozesse beim Dreschen, Worfeln und Sieben von Getreide: Transport der Weizengarbe mit Zweiradkarren und Büffelgespann, Ausdreschen mit Dreschschlitten, Häckselverarbeitung. Worfeln, Sieben und Abfüllen der Weizenkörner. Die Arbeiten werden in Alacahöyük in Familienverband ausgeführt.
Abstract: The chief procedures in the threshing and winnowing of grains as they may be regarded as typical for the traditional (non-mechanized) agriculture of the Anatolian high plateau form the content of this film: Wheat is transported on a traditional two-wheeled ox-cart pulled by a pair of water buffaloes from the fields to the threshing-floor, where it is spread out in a round "bed" and consequently threshed and turned into chaff (during two days) by three yokes of oxen and buffaloes pulling threshing-sledges with sharp flints on their under-sides. After threshing, the material is piled in high mounds and winnowed several times in the wind with the aid of broad forks. Finally the grains are cleaned with sieves, packed into sacks and taken to the house.

Abstract: Ein Handwerker und sein Sohn aus Corum reparieren ein Dreschbrett auf dem Dreschplatz des Dorfes Türk Kalehisar: Entfernen der alten Silexklingen, Ausbessern der Löcher, Abspalten, Retuschieren und Einsetzen neuer Klingen.
Abstract: In a large part of Anatolia the cereals mainly produced by dry-farming are harvested with scythes, threshed and reduced to chaff with threshing floats, whose undersides are covered with sharp flints. These flints grow dull with use and therefore have to be renewed every one to three years. The film shows us how a craftsman specialized in this kind of work removes dull and broken flints from the float, then reshapes the holes for their mooring in the wood and furnishes them with sharp new blades. These he chips off a big nucleus of silex, chisels into lanceolate shape and retouches slightly around the cutting edges.

Abstract: Eine Familie im Dorf Alacahöyük stellt gemahlene Grütze her: Sieben und Reinigen der Körner auf dem Dreschplatz, Waschen am Dorfbrunnen, Kochen im Hof in einem Kupferkessel, Trocknen, Befreien von den Kornhülsen in der Bulgurmühle am Dorfplatz, Trocknen, Worfeln, Reinigen, Mahlen in der Handmühle.
Abstract: Cooked wheat groats (bulgur) and bread are the staple food of the population of the Anatolian cereal-producing areas. The complex and time-consuming preparation of groats is shown in this film: winnowed wheat is thoroughly sieved and cleaned on the threashing floor and washed in the village fountain. After it has been dried in the sun, it is freed from its husks on a special "mill" with a vertical grind-stone. Back at the farm the wheat is cooked in large copper kettles and again dried in the sun. After a thorough winnowing it is sorted on a wooden table and ground or rather cracked on a handmill before being cooked a final time.

Abstract: Pflügen eines Feldes mit einem von Ochsen gezogenen hölzernen Hakenpflug (Karasaban) in dem Muhacirdorf Kalecikayaköyü.
Abstract: Especially on the often stony, steep and strongly divided fields of the Anatolian dry-farming regions, the traditional wooden plough with small iron share (karasaban) is still being used along with more modern equipment. The present film depicts a pair of oxen being put under a yoke and the plough transported to a field. There it is employed in a way characteristic of its form of construction to till parts of a fallow stubblefield. After use it is dismounted, cleaned and transported back to the farm.
